most of my tunes have pianos in them. i just use whatever is available to me.

are you after acoustic or electric? and what software do you currently use?

Pro Tools has a usable piano plugin
Logic has a usable electric piano plugin
Reason has usable patches for NN-XT

i guess the others have something too.

sampling piano solo is very hip hop. if you have the time to dig through old jazz records at secondhand stores then go for it. your music will sound much more edgy than most of the crap that comes out today.

hey , thanks for your reply!

I am currently using Ableton but I got a Logic Express as well.. totally forgot about the e-piano! I think I am more looking for an acoustic piano but I will first check the Piano mentioned..

The Record Sampling sounds good too! I will try things out but are there actually some free / not so expensive good piano plugins?

cheers!

as i said, piano is such a popular sound you would expect the DAW to cover it out of the box. maybe a sampler patch?

I've got a few piano libraries (Akoustic Piano, EWQL) and none sound good enough for me to use prominently in a track. I usually have to detune, EQ and compress the hell out of them, but even then, they still sound too "clean" and unnatural.

I'm after that beaten-up, detuned old upright sound. Let me know if you find it somewhere.

Most people don't have the space for a piano mate. I take it you don't live in a shared house.
