When Nebes had been discovered by Limikola two years ago, he was an unknown quantity. In the meantime
he has been producing diligently and now we have picked out his best tracks. About “Lick Me”
for example he himself says that this is the track he can identify with most and he is most satisfied with.
Nebes remained faithful with his style – as well as with the label. Now his second two-tracker is going to
be released, with familiar nebes-like, grumpy basslines, melodies that are generated by high, contrasting
sounds which vary constantly and, however, create a steady flow.
“Ensampled” is another, archaic term for “example”. And exemplarily, this sampling from Nebes’ stock
shows that nowadays it’s still possible to produce unique Minimal Techno without blatantly repeating
old-school tunes. The combination of an invariable substructure on one hand and single, ever-changing
constituents on the other gives both tracks a multifaceted vibe and makes them a paramount example
of the complexity of contemporary Minimal Techno. For those who don’t comprehend, the Serbian has
found an unmistakable message with his second track. Yet, actually this isn’t about the cover; it’s about
substance, about conviction.
