I'm done with hosa 1/4-1/4.
Can anybody recommend brands that make quality cables? Both 1/4"-1/4" and MIDI?

just picked up my first pair of "live wire elite" cables at guitar center. Definitely will buy again. really enjoy this thicker ends, gold plate, plus they are less than monster cables. More of a nice middle ground or happy medium.

A Cable is not a cable. Have you ever tried to get out a broken tip out of a jack of a rare or expensive vintage machine?! SP1200, MPC60, TR909, TR808, Oberheim XPander, etc. Good luck to find and get spare parts for those kind of machines.

a problem that never occured to me, so there are cables where the tip doesnt break easy or what?
i really doubt thats the reason why the OP wants to get new ones, but i guess it would be a valid point.

many years ago, I've had some where the connection between the rubber and metal becomes loose eventually tampering with the connectivity..
