Ok, here's something I could do with sorting out as it's driving me crazy.
Let's say I draw a midi clip in 16th notes and apply a groove to it with a bit of swing. All good! Then say I decide I want to move certain 16th notes to another midi note on the piano roll, say from C3 to D3 for example. Why is this so difficult? I have snap to grid on but the note can move freely from left to right and because of the sensitivity of my mouse, I try like crazy to just notch it up to whatever note I want without it sliding left or right and when it does slide left or right, whatever note is next to it, disappears. What's going on?
Ableton Midi notes driving me insane.
Re: Ableton Midi notes driving me insane.
could try:
- changing sensitivity of your mouse (system preferences on your computer)
- copying/pasting the MIDI note while leaving the original note where it was; then delete the original note once you have
the "new" note in place

Select note and then arrow up for one seminote, or shift+arrow up to jump up one octave
Re: Ableton Midi notes driving me insane.
I'll try the arrow thing. Just crazy why moving a note up one semitone is so difficult at times. I really do hate the midi in Ableton Live, it's very poor by other daw standards. Even FL has miles better. Thanks will try that

I'd love to hear more about what you're looking to do.
Re: Ableton Midi notes driving me insane.
Move midi notes around the piano roll without them moving left to right like I was saying. Once I apply a quantizing option, like a swing or whatever and wish to move notes around, they are all too easy to accidently nudge left or right. But that's just repeating what I already said so maybe I dunno what you mean?MiyaMushino wrote:I'd love to hear more about what you're looking to do.

Im using the arrow keys now anyway which is a lot better
