kick effects?

My kicks are too clean - I want a kick like this Mark Knight and Funkagenda track :

(also sounds a bit like the kick from umek slap)

Is there something else going on just behind the kick? Is it a reverb effect? Is a just a distorted kick?

Sorry for the noobness - I don't get much time in the studio to mess with kicks.

sounds like some reverb with short decay time.

the picture and the music don't really work together. it's impossible to make a tune like that sexy.

Cheers guys, I've never tried reverb on kicks. I know that its only gonna need a very short one - I'll have a try with some different verbs.

Good old Ambience works well for that. I also did some presets for kicks which come with the default bank. Should do the job just fine.

in my opinion im not too sure about the reverb, sounds more like compression in my ears with maybe a bit harmonics added. Basically the kick just sounds like a generic sample that has been beefed up a lot and then been cut back
