If music is a question, then Alexi Delano has all the right answers. With a style that sways neatly between house and techno, he consistently surprises with his ability to translate idea into sound. For over 2 decades now, Alexi has been creating and sharing his diverse sound on notable labels such as Clink, M_nus, Poker Flat, Plus 8, Leftroom, Svek, and Drumcode.

One of the greatest things about music as a form of expression is that it doesn't just paint a picture of the here and now, but also gives insight to the influence and experiences of an artist’s existence. Born in Chile, but raised in Sweden, Alexi Delano drew from the sounds of hip hop, funk, and soul to launch his radio show at the age of 15. A trip to Spain sparked his interest in electronic music, and Alexi made a name for himself in the Swedish electronic music scene alongside Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, and Jasper Dahlbeck. In the mid-90's, Alexi relocated from his home in Sweden to NYC in order to pursue his aspirations and cultivate his sound as a musical producer. With releases on over 70 labels, Alexi has been able to combine many roots and elements of the contemporary music scale. He is a man who seems to be made of music.

Bending rules by bending sound, Molecule’s diverse work is directly related to his deep understanding and training on multiple instruments in various forms of music. Also a professional Sound Designer, Molecule’s releases push sonic boundaries and carve new paths into the trails of electro, techno, and electronic music. His live dj sets and live pa performances focus on bringing new and interesting collections of frequency to the dance floor for a new generation. Molecule currently produces under various aliases, is forming his own label in 2011 and has much in store for those who listen. Past projects include Molecule releases on various labels worldwide, and most notably produced the highly acclaimed indie band Ishi.

Nick’s first musical forays came in the form of piano lessons at an early age. This small stint of classical training inspired in him a love for keyboards and synthesizers which still persists. Collecting various different synths throughout high school and college, he fostered his musical skill and creativity by jamming with friends or playing in bands. At the age of 19 he began DJing, inspired by electronic dance events he attended in and around Houston, Austin, and Dallas. A little over a year ago he decided to take his love for synthesizers and electronic dance music both to the next logical step, and began to investigate production. Building off the heavily melodic improvisation of his keyboard-playing background, Vegenaut tracks are deep, melodic excursions over clean beats with glitched out accents. His releases today are an early result of his unfolding experience in dance music production, and they clearly reflect his love for quirky, hypnotic, and techy sounds suitable for dancing and headphone listening both. These days you might find him playing the occasional party in Bryan/College Station, Austin, or surrounding areas. More than likely however, he’s in his studio sipping some coffee and crankin out his beets, er… beats, with almost obsessive productivity. Prepare for a vegetable invasion of a dance floor near you.

[HD024] Molecule – Recordar a los Muertos

“It’s all techno to me” is a phrase that can often be heard when Harmonious Discord recording artist Brad Dale is asked about the current state of electronic music. Brad is a master of many mediums with projects in major films, commercials, and his work with renowned folk-electronic hybrid band Ishi which are all in addition his edgy techno/house productions under Molecule. As if this wasn’t enough to keep this full time sonic mangler busy he also has a highly anticipated project called “Echo Conscious” being release later this year that showcases his dub techno roots. With all these avenues of expression one thing will most certainly remain consistent and that is a drive to push the boundaries and blur the lines. We launch into 2011 with this very special offering from a single celled producer that is known to shake lots of electrons with some amazing reworks by KiloWatts, Vegenaut, and PointBender that are guaranteed to wake the dead.

Harmonious Discord 024 Molecule – Recordar a los Muertos **OUT Feb. 17th**
1. Recordar a los Muertos
2. Recordar a los Muertos (KiloWatts Ancestral Mix)
3. Recordar a los Muertos (PointBender’s Dissonance Dance Mix)
4. Recordar a los Muertos (Vegenaut Mix)
5. Return the Lion
Preview them all @ http://www.hdrecordings.com

Recordar a los Muertos (Remember the dead) is a journey down the dark hallways of the mind with creepy organic accents at every turn. Molecule’s original mix showcases a work with building tension and complexity as off key musical artifacts collide with brain bending synthesis. This selection is perfect to creep the dance floor into experimental territory deep into the night. Lifting the souls to the sky, KiloWatts returns to the label to offer up a story of transcendence to the ethereal plains. In normal KiloWatt’s fashion his pieces take the listener through a multi-leveled experience. From an early subtle groove, rise of cacophonous interplay, to a blissful melody resolution this rework covers every sonic crevice. As the resonating bass frequencies begin to build the track takes on a twisted groove that rips through the sonic horizon and compels our bodies to dance in remembrance. PointBender’s dissonance dance mix offers us a deeper cadence driven interpretation with spectral piano whispers and lethargic horn swells. After a spooky break in the beat tension, a FM mangled arpeggio helps transform the saxophone accents into a modulated mess. Hot off his 2010 releases, Vegenaut is no stranger to the odder areas of electronic music. His remix features his signature glitched out percussion with some digital sighs and warped melody sequences. Brad’s second selection is a beefed up percussive ride with lots of similar horn and woodwind swells. This time instead of heading deep into cerebral territory, Return the Lion provides plenty instinctive rhythm to awaken your hypnotic tribal tendencies.
