minimalism in other forms of music?

well, ist a common fact that minimalistic aproach is deeply rooted in east asian cultures and music traditions although imo there is a key difference between traditional and the contemporary western concepts of "classical" and the "pop cultural" minimalism...i think they are not very comparable...

I recently discovered an unbelievable minimalist jazz/funk composer called Nik Bärtsch. He seems to have a couple of different projects he works on but his best seems to be his "Ronin" project

the roots of dub, that was all about minimalism, applied to roots reggae.
They took roots reggae and, stripped it donw worked on its core concept, so to say.

this gets kinda confusing since minimalism can meen so many diffrent things. A Philip Glass composition isn't minimal in a techno sort of way. Isn't DIY rock and punk productions a sort of minimalism in a rock way?
