who cares ?

600 + views and over 20 replies, that's more of a response to the average release in the vinyl, mix or digital sections here.

That tells me more people here would rather look down their noses at stuff like this than take a gamble on checking something which might be more relevant to cutting edge music - whatever your preferance :)

To me - that's more lame than lady gaga will ever be.

I think that the song still works. Imo lady Gaga is more a case of over-production and marketing of an ordinary pop artist (Red One is behind her bigger songs). The sad thing is that if it wasn't this New York girl it would be someone else.

oh, but I have checked her out, seen her perform live two years ago on Werchter so don't worry. I just saw a product and not really an artist. As Carl said: you can easily replace the person in the format and people will go nuts for that other person all the same.

That's exactly the point: you seem to think that because she is popular, that means her music must be good. And those two things actually have nothing to do with each other imho. Her marketing is top notch, and her management keeps her in the magazines any way they can, but that's only to hide that her music is pretty standard (yet well-made) consumer-friendly' stuff catering to the taste of as many people as possible. To me, Lady gaga, Beyonce, Aguilera etc etc are just the same product in another box. Sometimes in a very very very sexy box I might add ;)
In lack of a better word: I miss "soul" in those things. I don't want to have the idea that someone is just trying to pick my pocket when I listen to a track. To me music is about emotions and creating a connection from the listener with the artist. And stuff like Gaga, Black Eyed Piss etc don't have that link imho, they make stuff that sounds like ideal formats for ringtones, commercials and trendy fashion shops. A bit like packaging a factory made cookie in shiny expensive wrapper and selling it as the stuff your grandma used to bake, or putting a simple PC in a nice box with a flashy apple on it and charging double the price promising to offer a vague sense of belonging to something bigger. ;)

Anyway, as I said, I'm not trying to say that means they are less important or less at anything, it's just a different approach to music than how I feel music. Their music makes a lot more people smile and dance than all the producers here together so they deserve their place in the world sure enough. I just like trying to figure out stuff like influence of marketing on people ;)

That's all amazing , lovely you are so open minded buddy :) (and I don't mean that as sarcasm - it's cool)

I didn't really have any point to make about her tho, more the fact that people are saying who cares ??? and I'm pointing out that anyone who has responded or checked here cares and it's reflected in the stats :)

For the record, I fully understand celebrity marketing and the way press is setup to exploit situations, I neither respect it or disrespect it - it's simply a fact of life.

In fact, got some good stories a few years back from a Journalist friend who had been in a kerfuffle with Amy Winehouse - engineered by the press and I think some vodka company - all kinda cloak and dagger - get Amy here, get her drinking and get her in a fight , type thing, ohhh and make sure you get the logo in the shot of her looking pissed and unruly.

So Lady Gaga taking a dump on the sidewalk at the whitehouse really wouldn't surprise me - nothing would, it's just on a techno/house board, it's sad that people would rather comment on this than give feedback on a track, or help a new guy with some production tips or whatever - and even then, it's not like that fills me with a strong emotion, I just thing it's a sad reflection of our times, that even in our little bastions of specialised interest - the mainstream media can penetrate and get more of a reaction, than the specialised subject matters I presumed we were all here for, when in fact, all I see is lots of people downloading M_nus mixes and talking about Lady Gaga - that kinda tells me it's time to drill down as they say :) heheheh

well, I think people do help out each other here too, doesn't mean you can't have a proper bitch-and-moan about some things. Can't produce and talk about Perlon 24/7 can we...

Lady Gaga should make a perlon release, now I think of it. With release party in Berghain, dressed like Morticia Adams with a Amy Winehouse wig. Sponsored by Eristoff.

 Yeah, I suppose so, and I think lady gaga would look right sexy as morticia, so I hope her PR reads this heheh.
