korg electribe: http://www.thomann.de/es/korg_electribe_esx1_sd.htm

If someone can point me or recommend others boxes they are welcome.

blizt, I'm in the same kinda boat as you and recently made a decision to get the Korg ESX-1 SD.
I considered the jomox 888, machinedrum, a 3u modular drum machine and mfb 503 along with the ESX.
The main reason I'm going with the ESX is because I record and create most of my own drum sounds, aside from a few drum machine samples. Plus, I still crate dig and sample sounds for my music. I messed around with an EMX-1 last weekend and liked the roland style step sequencing it features. Since the EMX is basically the same functionality as the ESX, that sealed the deal for me. Plus, it's way cheaper than the others aside from the 503.
It's not a drum machine though. It's a sample sequencer.

I can't tell you how true this is. in 2006 I started aquiring gear again. Having been out of it for 10years, I figured I'd just get a Korg Er-1 to noodle around with - never thought I'd get serious. Before I knew it, I had 4 different electribes, an Yamaha AN200 and a variety of VST stuff. Now I've narrowed it down to the Korg EMX and Live, spending the past year nearly exclusively with the EMX; i've learned exactly what I need going forward. I thought (at first) the EMX was a toy, but if you spend time with your gear (regardless what it is) you'll make it work for you and you for it. It's no MOOG, it's no super duper high end gear, but it has taught me plenty and become my springboard to moving toward the Elektron MD. If I started out on an MD, I possibly would have felt it was too complicated and ditched it prematurely.
anyway... it matters...
absolutely agree.steevio wrote:+1AK wrote:I disagree. The relationship between an electronic musician and the gear they use is very important.
