that John Chowning thing was released as part of the manuals for the DX series and I found a PDF of it. Not searching again though.
I just did it by ear though. Start small just with 1 carrier and 1 operator and try everything that you can do with that.

I did a quick search.
First you find a lot of sites that offer it for free, but they make you pay at the end anyway.
