Substantia Nigra #2: DJ Jes

Post by xabalo »

What's the first thing that pops into your mind when you think about Chicago? Well, as a house music lover it goes preety natural: a vast variety of names who were injecting soul into this genre since late 80s. Therefore we present you a little under an hour mix of groove and joy from one of Chicago's underground childs, DJ Jes.
Belive it or not this guy started to spin records in 1989, having his first real gig at the Warehouse night club, where he actually held a 5 year residency.
Over the years he played with many of Chicago's finests such as DJ Sneak or Derrick Carter. In between, he started a passion for the analog nature of house music, and boy, what tunes he made... His first record was released in '93 on Chicago Groove Records and it's entitled With Prayer EP. Subsequently he released tons of records, some of them to his own label, Fresca Recordings. Be sure to check also his recent 3 track EP named Closer To Freedom at Tardis Records.
