But if its cheaper...
The Core i7 800 series is essentially the same as the Core i5 700 series but with HyperThreading enabled and higher clocks. It's based on the same quad-core Lynnfield processor die and drops into LGA1,156 socket. So, the Core i7 870, for example, is a £230 quad-core 2.93GHz chip that can process eight threads simultaneously.

That's the one I would go after.

An i7 740qm is the highest I can get for my money or the i5 560...which to me means more or less fck all!! Im thinkin theyre both going to be pretty powerfull! I wish i could admit the fact that I might never play out on my laptop and get a desktop BEAST!! haha

Thanks loads for the knowledge, links etc kids!! Really appreciate it!

I would not buy a Dell as there aftersales is rubbish

I have a a three year old Acer (don't use for production now) and it still going strong, so if I had that kinda spare cash I would definatly get an acer

I would go to PC World and have a look at models - then go and buy it somewhere else - probably wait till after xmas as there are bound to be some bargains due to the current finacial situation

Oh yeah forgot about us having to pay those bankers their xmas bonus

On topic - I would never buy anything from PC World and buy from the manufacteurs direct, incase there is any problems
