that actually sounded better than the videos i watched. my friend has a dark energy i'm definetly going to check it out... soon that mono lancet looks and sounds amazing too.s.k. wrote:Oberheim SEM - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ze0O29O ... re=related - do you mean this one, hydrogen? is it just me but from the demos this sounds very cheesy to me, would prefer the dark energy any day (again judging only by demos).

Or an x0xb0x?
Others could be MFB synth lite, bass station keys
Re: small analog bassline synths...
DE is very nice, if you are looking for portable and good. (also very versatile)
Check out also the MFB, Nanozwerg is nice also.
I have both since not so long ago an i love them, the built quality of the DE is a lot better (you can feel it in the knos righ away) but sounds from both are realy amazing IMO (diferent eachone, of course). I must say i kind of like the MFB more for bass.

Re: small analog bassline synths...
i would pick the dark energy by far. great sound and lots of possibilities because of the patch options
Re: small analog bassline synths...
i think the DE is a good option, but you could always start off a small modular (sorry for the M word) as the DE is available as a module in the A100 range;hydrogen wrote:opuswerk, i would love to hear them. or send me links to a couple tracks where its featured as the bassline.
What i find with the DSI tetra as soon as i start going in the lower ranges, the sub oscilator starts to sound grainy and envelopes just turn to sh!t. The filters sound nothing like the moog or even Juno. I have gotten good sounds out of it but I'm thinking I can do more with a specific synth.
another for the list...
Doepfer Dark Energy

its alot cheaper than the DE, but you would need a small case & PSU, (and a midi /CV convertor unless you already have one) which would bring it up to the same price, however it would be expandable if you get a slightly bigger case than you need, in future you could add a different filter if you wanted more variety with the sound, or an extra oscillator etc...
Re: small analog bassline synths...
Are they exactly the same Steevio?
Re: small analog bassline synths...
the DE is just the A111-5 in a box with PSU and midi/CV convertor and USB,
check out the face plate its identical.
the DE is £350 in the UK,
the A111-5 is £239 from Emis
but unless you're intending to expand youre probably better off with the DE,
just a thought

Re: small analog bassline synths...
And a very good one actually. I love the idea and it brings me one step closer to building a modular... (its my goal to start one this year) but if I go this route i have got to find a module case something that fits in half a suitcase.steevio wrote:the DE is just the A111-5 in a box with PSU and midi/CV convertor and USB,
