hardware lpf recommendations

Post by loureed »

looking for a low pass filter or a multimode with a load of character and a simple design

currently looking at the moogerfooger 101 because of the stompbox design and the option of using an expression pedal
interested in something a bit more vintage too

any suggestions before i pull the trigger?

imo.

depending on your budget, don't just look at LPF as a way to add character. all hardware machines have character.

I don't like the idea of just using a filter to add character to sound.

Probably out of the many tools which are available, a chunky warm LPF will do the most for the least amount of cash, as well as easily fitting into your current style of sound design/production.

But hardware can change the whole way you think about sound. The filter is just one small piece of a big and beautiful puzzle.

right now i use the filter effect on a pioneer djm800 and crank the reso and my amp freaks out and makes crazy subsonic earthquake noises when i punch my reverb tank

i would like to leave my dj mixer at home and replace that with a simple funky filter

MF101

not sure what you mean by 'funky' filter, but its the classic lowpass, and built to withstand even the most moody sludge metaller's paraboot.

not sure theres much else to fit the bill.

way better than the DJM filter

you seem angry enough to like metasonix.

probably hard to find, but lots of 'character'.

what i was saying earlier was that i find the idea of using a filter to add character to a sound a bit weird. but i guess it's true and it works, so.
