Getting a new computer..

Post by wax works »

Getting an imac this week and I require some friendly advice..

I could go for the £999 imac and then have money for monitors, or I can get the £1249 imac and get my monitors another time.

Will the extra £249 really make a difference, is it worth it?

there's a bit of a price difference between the i3 and quad i5/i7.

it depends what software you are using.

i imagine Ableton is fairly light on CPU as it's designed for laptops. i don't use it so i'm not sure.

i think anyone making minimal techno will have trouble maxing out that machine.

I use a bottom spec Mac mini 2.4ghz , and I struggle to max out the processor. I am using logic tho...
Everyone suggested that I get at least an Imac, but I already had everything else, and didnt really fancy spending much more than £600.

But its solid as a rock, If my processor starts going crazy I start bouncing. Not too everybodys taste I know...
If I were you I would budget a lot more for monitors than a computer..

I think too much emphasis is put on computer spec's...
