I have 2000euro to spent for new computer... This computer will be used only for production of music/mastering, and ocasonaly djing Traktor (and watchin pron joke)... Is Mac book Pro really that worth of cash, besause i can get pc with same specs. for allmost half price... Is that true that Os is much better than windows 7, and the sistem is more solid. The Logic looks good to me but, Cubase 5 is neither bad... What are + for the price you pay??? I know that the topic is never ending thing/story, but anyone who has the will to participate in this topic, please do... Sorry about my English, tnx in advance for asnwers... I need some advice

Both (mac and non mac) can get the job done equally well.
Both (cubase and logic) can get the job done equally well.
Both (windows 7 and mac os) can be equally very stable if used for music production only.
If you are looking for a laptop, then I suggest looking in to Sony Vaio's.
BUT if you want to think less, and want the thinking to be done for you by someone else then definitely get a Mac.
BUT if you want total flexibility and total control over your music production computer, then definitely get Desktop PC. (in this case you might gonna need to think about the compatibility of different parts of your computer, but you will also gain extra knowledge about computers this way.

I use a desktop PC for music production only, and a mac for internet and other crap. My PC, for the money I spent makes a mac of equal price look very adequate. Cubase is a dream too, I switched from live to it about 3 months ago, took a lil while to adjust and now I love it. If you plan to have the music computer online though, I'd rethink the situ an prolly get a mac, just for safteys sake

With a pc there needs to be some tweeking done before you get on with making music.
I was thinking along those lines.

i just ordered a system 76 brand laptop. they come with linux preinstalled. i'm going to use a few linux apps to drive my hardware via MIDI, and dj with a turntable/laptop duo. i could play songs and drive my synths with the laptop. only problem is that linux still doesn't have any dj software worth noting, and i'm not sure that ableton or traktor will run stable with wine.
macs are great for production and dj'ing as they are usually known for having low latency. also the hardware is quality, so you probably won't have to fix the bugger for many years (3+). my mac pro desktop machine is 3 years old and runs as smooth as the day i opened the box on her. the catch is you'll be paying about 30-50% more for anything mac brand.
i paid about $1,000 for a 4G ram, 2.66 Ghz, 500G hd, 15" laptop from system 76, whereas the same specs on a mac ran about $1,300.

if you want porn get a mac. all those anti virus software really kill your CPU.
i'm a mac user and the only problems i've had is death. i've had 2 G5 imacs, one died after 4.5 years and the other died on monday at 5.5 years old.
since monday i've being using a PC laptop with Reason + Record and it's going well. this could all change once i install Pro Tools.

Yer agreed on the tweeking front. I ordered a custom music pc as id had 2 from the same company before and loved the after sales service as well as knowing the system was solid. I looked at the price of a mac tower and what I needed then looked at what I could get from the custom company for the same price an the difference was too much to ignore. Even tho most would argue I was overcharged I def think it's worth it for peace of mind and ease of use.
