sampling vinyl using an inferior turntable

Post by kristofason »

can a cheapish direct drive (say Soundlab for example) deck with good a cartridge still give decent sound quality? I'm not really planning on digitizing my vinyl collection, more just for samples. I know the soundcard and mixer have a lot to play in the quality aswell.
cheers

yeah will be fine. I haven't changed my needles in about 3 years and I still sample and it sounds fine.

it's going to sound a lot nicer than any sample from a CD or mp3.
