this gets kinda confusing since minimalism can meen so many diffrent things. A Philip Glass composition isn't minimal in a techno sort of way. Isn't DIY rock and punk productions a sort of minimalism in a rock way?

Mixing

With previous tracks I havn't spent that much time with the actual mixing aspect of my tracks. I've used reason and ableton and done some volume adjustments and some panning to get the sound were i wan't them in the mix. If i don't have any thing else going on like school asignments and stuff i usually get at least an hour in every day. Maybe not like focused producing but playing around with loops and rhythms and stuff.

I have this problem as well sometimes. What you can try to do is replace a percussive beat with a harmonic one? Lets say a bongo plays on 1 2 and 3 replace the on on 2 with a stab and you still have the same rhythm going and the same groove but a new instrument.
